Minotours Hellas is a well established tourism and travel company
situated in the town of Agios Nikolaos in the North East of Crete. This
family business was established in 1983 and has been operating for more
than 20 years focusing in the needs of the individual tourist.
Minotours Hellas has long experience in tourism combined with
university studies on the subject. It is a member of both E.O.T. (Greek
National Tourism Organization) and H.A.T.T.A. (Hellenic Association of
Travel and Tourism Agencies).
The manager of the company, Panagiotis Koutoulakis, spend 12 years in Germany, where he studied sociology and was ‘given’ the idea of starting the company from a number of friends that were asking him for information about his home island Crete. Questions like how, when and where to go along with the interest of people in seeing the real Crete and not just the commercial one, ‘made’ him take the step of opening a tourism and travel company that would provide a solution to the above questions.
His son, Nikos Koutoulakis, was introduced into tourism early in his life after spending his summers in the company and as a result of living in a village that attracted the tourists. He studied Hospitality Services and Beverages in Greece, which was followed by a BA(HONS) studies in Tourism Management in the U.K. His theoretical studies combined with the knowledge and experience of his father, have provide the tools for a better understanding of the needs of the individual tourists.
Last but not least, Yvonne Fotiadi, who is Scottish and can be considered the right hand of the company. Yvonne fell in love with the island after visiting it as a tourist and is currently living in Crete and has been working for Minotours for 13 years. She considers the island to be her second home and can provide an inside view of the Cretan ways and ideas, as a person from abroad who has lived with the locals for so many years.
